Moon is on the list of all the space dwellers who want to have permanent settlements on moon where proper colonies can be developed. 

Besides its proximity to Earth other factors like source of construction material and enough use of sunlight go in its favors. The colonies which will be visible from Earth will also provide with conversation between the moon and our planet. With water being discovered recently by Chandryaan and LCROSS Mission the chances of colonization may be improved although the water content is very less than required.
